Hamilton Arena Partners, the operators of the Mohawk 4 Ice Centre, have successfully negotiated a naming rights agreement with the Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA). This agreement, which will see the facility renamed the LiUNA 4 Ice Centre by the first quarter of 2025, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the facility’s financial sustainability.

As per the terms of the agreement, LiUNA will pay $40,000 annually for the naming rights over a ten-year period, contributing to the operational costs of the facility. The revenue generated from this deal will help support the facility's operational needs, which are managed under an operating and maintenance agreement with the City of Hamilton.

In addition to the naming rights agreement, Hamilton Arena Partners, in consultation with the City’s Indigenous Relations team, will make a one-time $10,000 donation to a program focused on advancing Indigenous community priorities. This donation aligns with the City’s Urban Indigenous Strategy and supports initiatives aimed at increasing access to recreation for Indigenous youth and promoting Indigenous sports and recreation activities.

This agreement follows a history of successful partnership between Hamilton Arena Partners and the City, which has seen several years of operational surplus since the facility’s opening in 2005. The naming rights deal is expected to further enhance the Centre’s revenue generation, providing ongoing benefits for the community and helping to ensure the continued success of the Mohawk 4 Ice Centre.
