Saskatchewan Jazz Festival Faces Sponsorship Gap After SaskTel Exit

The Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is entering a pivotal moment as it seeks a new title sponsor for the first time in nearly three decades. SaskTel, which has held the title sponsorship since 1998, has confirmed it will not be returning as the festival’s lead corporate partner.
The departure leaves a significant financial and branding void for one of Saskatoon’s flagship summer events. Title sponsorship dollars, which had reached six figures annually, were a cornerstone of the festival’s operating budget, supporting everything from year-round staff salaries to large-scale production costs. The SaskTel brand has also been deeply embedded in the event’s identity, appearing on stages, signage, and promotional materials for almost 30 years.
Replacing that anchor sponsor is now a top priority. Without a new corporate partner at a similar scale, the festival will be forced to restructure, potentially altering its format and scope in the coming season. The financial challenge extends beyond the loss of cash contributions: the festival must also undergo a full rebranding effort to replace SaskTel’s name and visual presence across its platforms and venues.
The search for new sponsorship comes at a time of mounting pressure for live music and cultural festivals across Canada. Rising costs, lingering effects of the pandemic, and changing audience patterns have already forced some events, including the Regina Folk Festival, to shutter permanently.
Founded in 1987, the festival has grown into one of Canada’s premier jazz events, attracting internationally recognized performers and large audiences each summer. Its long-standing partnership with SaskTel helped secure that reputation. With the end of this era, the festival is actively seeking a new naming rights sponsor that can not only provide financial stability but also align its brand with a high-profile cultural institution at the heart of Saskatchewan’s summer calendar.
