Grande Prairie’s long-anticipated Multisport Dome at Trader Ridge has officially broken ground, marking a transformative investment in year-round sport and recreation for the region. Once complete, the facility will feature a full-size FIFA regulation field with flexible configurations to host soccer, football, rugby, and track & field—positioning it as one of the premier indoor athletic venues in northern Alberta.
Designed as a state-of-the-art hub for athletes, families, and local organizations, the dome reflects the community’s vision for a space that fosters training, competition, and connection. Beyond recreation, the facility is expected to play a significant role in sport tourism, attracting regional and provincial events that will generate new economic activity for the city and surrounding area.
Supported by both the City and County of Grande Prairie, the project represents one of the largest joint recreation investments in the region, with the County contributing up to $2.8 million toward construction. Atkinson Construction, awarded the design-build contract, is delivering a sustainable facility that meets the demands of Grande Prairie’s rapidly growing population while supporting future expansion of sport programming and events.
As construction advances, the Multisport Dome also presents a unique corporate partnership opportunity. With high year-round visibility, strong community engagement, and the ability to connect with a wide cross-section of residents and visitors, the naming rights sponsor will benefit from both brand recognition and alignment with a project that embodies growth, health, and community pride.
The dome is set to become not only a cornerstone of local sport infrastructure but also a powerful platform for the right corporate partner to leave a lasting legacy in Grande Prairie.
